Molly is twelve years old and about to move in with new foster parents. She has lived in several foster homes before, but it never went very well. Molly knows this is her last chance, and she wants to do everything she can to make it work this time. But her past keeps coming back, making it harder than she thought to start over with a new family, new friends, and a new school.

The money for the class's camp trip has been stolen and Kathrine suspects Molly, but Truls and Amir defend her. Roger from the youth home has tracked her down and demands that she pay her debt to Ebbe.
