Liz Nyles is responsible for the safety of a witness until trial. When a shooting occurs at the shelter, Liz is shocked. Worse still, she learns that her colleague Paul Brandice, with whom she had a secret romance, was also at the scene and was badly injured. Liz is determined to find the killer and find out who leaked information about the shelter.
Liz is desperate to protect the team and limit the damage of the leak. She is forced to take drastic measures to protect her young witness, who is now a target.
Liz enlists the help of her colleague Rick Brewley, who specializes in organized crime, to dig deeper into one of Brandice's contacts. As pressure at work mounts, Liz uses her position to gain access to confidential information.
