As part of the Children in Need appeal, Anneka Rice is challenged to put a volunteer symphony orchestra in the middle of the River Thames by Tower Bridge, playing an open-air performance of the 1812 Overture with a firework accompaniment. She must also 'freeze' part of the River Thames for a simultaneous ice dance display. Originally broadcast as live programme inserts on BBC One during the day, and repeated as a 40 minute edited version on 01 January 1988.
